We live in a challenging time for educating, on the cusp of a generational shift. Our students and children are processing information at a depth that many of us grown-ups didn’t develop until we were much older. This causes some big challenges as these same children are often disinterested in the requirements of standard curriculum learning. So, a hunger for understanding and a push back against skills is an uncomfortable combination, but one that seems very alive to our shifting world.
This tension is caused by a variety of complex intersecting systems in our world, most of which you and I have little control over.
What we do have control over is us. Ourselves.
The essence of Awakened Education is to support you on the journey of self-development and growth THROUGH the prism of your child or your class’s development. A reciprocal process that gives the adult incredible opportunities to learn about themselves, even if the process is somewhat challenging. By working your way through some key ways to explore your Self, you will begin to wake to the level of engagement and learning that each teaching and parenting interaction can offer.
By exploring this site, I can support you with information and tools to improve your connection with children at home or in the classroom. More resources are always being added so please sign-up for the newsletter to ensure you stay abreast of changes. We are building a community of Awakened Educators of which you can be part.
